the succulent yellow flesh was soft and firm,not too sweet with an incredible bite.
tantalising feel of the golden mush sliding down your throat was just like ahhh.perfect.

jackfruit reminds me of childhood.really.
in a single-storey bungalow which i used to live in with a dog.
a mango tree and jackfruit tree in the front lawn
and the musty,gravelled roads which we could play catching and hopscotch with our neighbours.
in the evenings,the bread van would come and we would excitedly select cakes displayed in the wooden drawers.and watch in fascination as the bread seller toss loaves (in plastic packs la) over the fence to those living in the posh estate.( i ish poor)

but then my family moved to bishan so we could be closer to pei chun public school where they could groom be to be the academically-inclined nerd i now am.except for the academically inclined part.

funny how eating something can trigger so many memories...really missed those days.
