SIWW (Thursday, July 1, 2010 / 6:30 PM)
this is probably the last time im blogging using this computer, siww is over at last :D and i am freeee and unemployed bummer once again so i can help out in rag
overall the experience had its highlights and lowlights and the ending was bittersweet cos i did make many friends ( the pub people are like insanely crazy and talkative and friendly, really did make me feel welcome ) anyway thanks to zhiwen for introducing me the job,it is quite valuable work experience and being able to click with the colleagues as well as the cleaning auntie was great.

Our handsome Managing Director and future minister Michael!oh and the CEO Han Tong drinking water at the back! HAHA IM ON FIRST NAME TERMS WITH DA FUTURE MINISTERS :Dbut seriously they are nice men, michael is always asking about the welfare of the staff and is extremely friendly while han tong shared with me his experience on his daughter getting into med school etc.:) congratulations on the SIWW being a success! we really needed it,seeing the flood incidents did not bode too well for PUB's public image.but i am certain that we progressed from an international standpoint from this week,i can see that the VIPs did enjoy themselves thoroughly on some of the events, really making singapore a memorable place.i sound like a patriotic prat but this really is true lah must experience it to realize it.
1st day.helped out florence and zhiwen in calling people and saw tt we didnt have the siww shirt and most of the people on duty were poly or uni students.some of the poly students looked really ah lian and ah beng and i was wondering why should we use them to represent the face of singapore to ministers and stuff initially ( not that i have anything against poly students,i wanted to be one once myself).but after working with them throughout the week i can see them some of them really do put in the effort to make siww a meaningful experience for the foreign delegates and recognize the magnitude of the event to do a decent job.for example when they volunteered to give up their lanyard to the delegates on the fourth day so they could get into universal studios,it was kind of a wow moment for me.

Dr Amy Khor at the Water Leaders Summit lunch looking cute in her tailored suit!she is really likable even on first sight,no wonder she managed to make a comeback in politics even after being insulted by goh chok tong! haha.
2nd day.cant rmb much abt today, except that i had to settle some printing stuff.lunch was chicken breast with some stuffing, not bad.but i was so bored i played with my round slab of butter and drew ridiculous smiley faces.and yes one thing about the service...they actually let part time fresh students and grumpy aunties serve the impt ministers..guess it is to cut costs but the service really lacked in the sense that it was obvious the people were amateur, kept serving wrongly.
missed the lky dinner :(i heard tt it is the last dinner of our dear MM and he was really funny but oh well. due to some stuff i had to settle.SIGH.and i was already pretty tired because not sure why the past few days ive had problems sleeping.
3rd day. just helped out in the secretariat room printing stuff for the liasion officers...my boss kept changing his instructions so i got confused geez.i never knew that printing stuff could be so time consuming and tried to print as much as i can.after that just lugged everything home lor.
after work ended went for dinner with pak and dan at the citylink @ nyny :D good company and the food was not bad, but i think we overstayed our welcome cos the manager was like practically asking if we had any last orders and finally shoving the bill in our faces.(douche, the place was super empty!)i have more rebate points now though!haha.
"ほんまや HONMAYA!"they gave out smaller bottles at the convention but this was the only proper picture i could find online for now :P CUTE RIGHT PACKAGING MUCH NICER THAN NEWATER.or maybe it is cos im a girl.the water tastes pretty normal though, which is kind of the point i guess =.= NeWater is more fresh and sweet cos singapore is more paranoid and filters out every single weenie bit of microbacteria.guess it depends on the person not too fussy about water myself as long as it doesnt taste too metallic.
4th day.* highlight of the week!*
(woke up early to go running -.- bad nite sleep agn and decided to poke my muscles a bit)
jurong ->newton->jurong->universal studios-> suntec-> home
( of course with some help from mom and my shameless self asking for taxi claim)
today is the universal studios cum the amazing paper race day! gosh i never thought that a stack of papers to photocopy could cause me so much problems that have me racing around the entire day.firstly in the morning reached waterhub and realized they had 1) no colour photocopier 2)slow printer 3) i could not connect my laptop to the printer 4) i did not bring my thumbdrive because i thought there would be a colour photocopier and it was merely photocopying.screw it D:

and my boss...well long story.even the malay guy slacking nearby took pity on me and helped me with filing and sorting out papers even though he was pretty busy himself, thanks alot dear malay dude :D i think i would have never made it to universal studios without your help.and thanks mom for your ferrying!

so zhiwen and i tried a couple of rides( actually only one ride and one show was open),the camera show and the mummy ride.i can errr..sort of say i got over my fear of roller coasters with the mummy ride! after my traumatizing primary school experience ive always had an unreasonable phobia where i would throw up after every roller coaster ride because i was so scared.it was quite funny because the man-in-business-wear ( probably an important minister or ambassador)in front of us turned around and asked:
"Your first time?" "Yeah, first time.""THIS IS MY SECOND TIME ALREADEEE!!!! HEEHEEEHEEHEEMUAHAHHAH!!!!~~~"
" eeeehhh really so fun ah?? no spoilers no spoilers!!!!!!"HAHA SOMEONE MORE CHILDISH THAN ME :D throughout the ride he was like WHEEEE!!!!!HEHEHEHHEEEEEEEE. the memory of the incident still makes me laugh.ministers can act like kids too okay! it is important to always stay a kid at heart lest a universal studios mummy ride presents itself in front of you in an international event you have to attend.overall the ride was short but SHIOK,screamed my lungs out for fun.some of the hardcore rollercoaster fans might find that no kick, but the screaming part and the dark rollercoaster where u couldnt see where u were going or falling part was uber fun.
the camera show wasnt that impressive or scary to me...it was a bit of a waste of props and resources imo though the effects were generally okay there was this feeling of fakeness i couldnt get over and to attach steven spielburg's name with that kind of performance was just zz.plus the presenter was obviously a part time student and recited her lines monotonously, this is a special effects show for gods sake at least show some enthusiasm to get the audience hyped up even though you may only be paid 6.50 per hour. alot of the employees were students too, which i guess was to cut costs, even though they hired a few professionals as the entertainers as well.
another random HONMAYA! siww photo i found on the net! what does honmaya even mean??and yes all HONMAYA font must be in pink cos it makes it more maketable than newater! can you resist but to pick it up and drink it?
the extraordinary and plenipotinary ambassador of the republic of angola! HHAHAHHHA.im not kidding that is really what his namecard said! zhiwen and

SIWW girls missing edah plus SHREK :D thks zhiwen for the photos!
after that decided to catch my lawmates on the way home.since micheal dropped us off at ritz carlton.miss u too jiamin xD ppl shamelessly walked into kbox after loitering outside a bit and after none of the staff stopped me so i just continued walking into the room. asked about the sunflower i brought there,is cos the colleague poh leng yew went to steal the flowers under nicole's insistence.then the staff were like "just take lor" so we just shamelessly took like 5 sunflowers to give to the siww girls :D
posing in front of universal studios classic er....rolling globe thingamagig.
but the preview of the effects ( in multiple tv screens,a bit lame) really got me a taste of how breathtaking movies can be.cant wait to watch toy story 3 with jlau and cheryl on sunday!
